Another day, another slay for JoJo Siwa in the midst of the competition on this season of Dancing With the Stars! 

Dancing the foxtrot alongside partner Jenna Johnson, the 18-year-old Gen Z superstar absolutely showed out on the ballroom floor with a routine to Olivia Newton John’s “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee (Reprise)” for Grease night on the popular ABC reality competition, and it really paid off, because the dancing duo received this season’s first perfect score! 

Yup, it was 10’s across the board for Siwa and Johnson, who have been scoring very highly in previous weeks. Prior to last night, competitors Amanda Kloots (of The Talk) and Alan Bersten held the honor of having this season’s highest score (a 39 out of 40), but they were overthrown thanks to Siwa and Johnson nailing a flawless 40 out of 40 with their Grease-themed foxtrot — and we love to see it! 

“When I came here week one, I came here in full pants, a full hoodie, a full jean jacket. I was very self-conscious about myself,” Siwa said in a confessional snippet before her and Johnson’s epic routine, saying Johnson “gave me the confidence and the courage to be more okay with myself.” 

“WOW!!!!! I have literally no words!!!!” Siwa wrote in an Instagram post earlier this morning following the news she and Johnson received all 10’s from the DWTS judges table. “I am on cloud 528183629 right now!! Tonight [Jenna Johnson] and I got the FIRST perfect score of the season on [Dancing With the Stars]!! 4 10’s!!! I’ve cried and smiled SO much tonight. The amount of respect that I have for all 4 judges [Derek Hough], [Carrie Ann Inaba], [Bruno Tonioli], and [Leonard Goodman] is massive so to get a perfect 10 from all 4 of them tonight means SO much to me!!!”

She continued:

“To be a part of [Dancing With the Stars] is something that I’ve always dreamed of… and now…. This is my reality!!!! I’m SO so so appreciative for [Jenna Johnson] for not only being the best mentor/pro for the last 7 weeks, but also being the best friend. I’ve been through thick and thicker in the last few weeks and she’s been there for me every second that I need her to be!! This show would not be the same with anyone else! Tonight we shared the story of OUR friendship that we’ve gained over the last few weeks and I couldn’t be happier. This dance and this moment is something that I will cherish forever and EVER!!!!!!! I cried in the beginning, middle, and end of this performance. And I’m crying again now! Happy tears and sad (because this nights over). Thank you all for voting once again this week!!! Out contestant Beatrice Luigi Gomez broke down barriers by claiming the title.

Queer folks in Manila have a new reason to celebrate this week, as Miss Universe Philippines has crowned its first-ever LGBTQ+ winner, Beatrice Luigi Gomez. 

During the preliminary interview, Gomez, who represented Cebu City, shared that she’s been in a longterm same-sex relationship with her partner. She also expressed her confidence that the Philippines was ready for an out and proud member of the LGBTQ+ to represent them at the Miss Universe pageant. As it turns out, she was correct. 

It was a big moment for Gomez, her country, and her supporters, who were thrilled to see queer “herstory” being made. Many took to Twitter to celebrate the big moment. 

Gomez was reportedly considered a bit of an underdog, but she beat out 27 other competitors to win the crown and title. She also won the evening gown and swimsuit portions of the evening. 

That the Philippines is making strides in the representation of LGBTQ+ individuals shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. According to a study entitled “The Global Divide on Homosexuality” that was conducted by the Pew Research Center in 2013, the Philippines ranked in the top 10 most gay-friendly countries in the world. That same study showed that 73 percent of adult Filipinos agreed that “homosexuality should be accepted by society.” 

Gomez is now set to represent her home country in the 70th Miss Universe pageant being held in Eilat, Israel in December. If she wins, it will mark the fifth time a contestant from the Philippines has taken home the crown.

The Sacred Camaraderie Of F*ck-Buddies

For those of us who find ourselves floating through the banal purgatory between romantic relationships while simultaneously feeling exhausted by the tumultuous roller coaster of casual dating, it can be comforting to find stability in a regular fucking. Therein lies the beauty of an adored fuck-buddy, where the relationship is rooted solely in the purpose of sex, with no expectations for further intimacies outside of the allotted dick(pussy)-appointment time slot.

Without putting too much significance on labels when it comes to human sexuality, it is important to first spell out the difference between a fuck-buddy and a “friends with benefits.” Friends with benefits refers to two pre-existing friends who, in addition to enjoying the regular social activities that come with friendship, consciously choose to participate in sexual intercourse with one another without expanding into something more romantic and intimate. What if you’re reading this and thinking, “But wait a minute, Jesse. I know someone who I hook up with a lot and have weekend-long sleepovers with, but we also sometimes hang out one-on-one for walks and dinner where we don’t even have sex. What’s that called?” Congratulations, my friend, you have just found out you are dating someone. Please prepare them a lovely shrimp alfredo for dinner this weekend, and introduce them to your mother already.

Frankly, many single people are not ready to be in a serious relationship at this given moment in their lives, whether because of their hectic work life, their current emotional state, or simply because they can’t even understand themselves so certainly can’t expect another person to figure them out. But with that being said, the hoe life is also not for the faint of heart (or sphincter). Mercurial promiscuity carries with it a draining exhaustion from the chronically repetitive cycle of small talk, having to answer what you’re “into,” and synchronizing of each other’s schedules to determine when you are both mutually free to meet up. And that’s before you even get to the fun exhaustion!

So therein lies the question: where are single people expected to find their sought-after intimacy? Are affection, tenderness, physical pleasure, sensuality and erotic excitement privileges awarded only to those who are fortunate enough to have found a kindred spirit, while the rest of us continue to search for ours? Is loneliness not a harrowing enough affliction to bear that it must also be married by relentless horniness?

Most people are surprised at just how devastating this separation can feel, but why shouldn’t it be? The countries of Concourse and Lenovo are in the middle of a ‘cold war’. Espionage, and intrigue abound in both countries. Melany is rather non-committal while on the other hand, Jacqueline seems devastated.  So it was less of a surprise to Bunny than the rest of the administration when Kitcat’s body is found following her suicide. Strangely but the same type of sword as Chandelier.

It seems as though the details of Lenovo’s plan will die with Chandelier and Jacqueline. That is unless Bunny can unravel the evil conspiracy.
