What are the top lesbian love songs of all time? This is probably up for debate, but here are my top picks for lesbian love songs that have had meaning to me at some point in my life. Since I could only pick ten songs, I didn’t include an artist more than once, though, with some of them, it was hard to decide which song to pick.

Joan Armatrading: The Weakness in Me
If you’ve ever been in love with more than one person, this is THE song to describe that tortured experience. Featured on The L Word Soundtrack and recorded by Melissa Etheridge, I am surely not the only lesbian to relate to this song. Here is the Joan Armatrading classic, The Weakness in Me. If you’re not familiar with Joan Armatrading’s music, this would be a good place to start.
The Indigo Girls: Power of Two
It’s hard to pick just one song from lesbian duo, The Indigo Girls. The Power of Two is a testament to sticking it out through the good and hard times.
Melissa Etheridge: Come to My Window
Yes I Am was Melissa Etheridge’s coming out album and “Come to My Window” was her breakthrough hit. It was also hard to decide which of Melissa’s songs to pick. I settled for this 1993 hit. It remains one of the best lesbian love songs of all time.
Sophie B. Hawkins: Damn, I wish I was your Lover
When I first heard “Damn, I wish I was your Lover” by Sophie B. Hawkins, I had to find out who was singing this sexy love song. Sophie, who coined the term “omnisexual”, just had to end up on this top lesbian love songs list.
k.d. lang: Constant Craving
We couldn’t talk about lesbian love songs without mentioning k.d. lang, the cutest butch ever to sing country music. “Constant Craving” was k.d.’s pop crossover hit and one hot love song.
Jill Sobule: I Kissed a Girl
I’m sure Jill Sobule’s “I Kissed a Girl” saved some young lives. If only I could have had as frank a song about kissing girls when I was growing up
Sade: By Your Side
Right after my friend passed away from breast cancer, I heard “By Your Side” by Sade on the radio. This song made me realize that love lasts forever, even if you think someone you loved and lost is gone, in your heart, they will always be by your side.
Melissa Ferrick: Drive
Melissa Ferrick’s “Drive” is more of a sex song than a love song, but I had to include this out-lesbian’s ode to oral sex in the best lesbian love songs list.
Ani DiFranco: If it Isn’t Her
Oh, yeah, this is the song about when you first meet someone and you are so crushed out that you just don’t notice anything else. Bisexual rocker, Ani DiFranco’s tribute to her girl-crush, “If it isn’t Her” is one of the top lesbian love songs ever.
Doria Roberts: Perfect
Doria Roberts, cute lesbian from Atlanta and Lilith Faire star captures the moment when everything in your love life is “Perfect.”
