The two girls spend the night in the house, believing that zombies are like lightning and never strike twice in the same place twice.

 Marti and Jessie are up and out the door the next morning, blindly traveling through an almost impenetrable fog. Undaunted and filled with hope they plan to meet up and join forces with a friend AB, who they feel may have the right stuff to ward off the zombie attackers and set up a safe haven during the relentless onslaught from the living dead. When they get to AB’s house things take a turn for the worse and the three realize their future may be cut short.

 Females are running the globe, and rather than risk having males running around free they are imprisoned and used when needed. The non-Argonautican females are then the only viable candidates for servants and slaves.

 The is a trial period for only the females deemed worthy of the slave positions. That period can be quite brutal. Some of the candidates fail to make it out of the trial period alive. Things are looking bleak for Meg and Kate at the moment.

 Kate and Meg provide the ruling elite with a dilemma, are they too powerful to be kept as slaves, or can they be broken and worked into the stable of submissive servants, and slaves needed to run the captured land of New Eden?

During her convalescence, it is discovered that Millicent had indeed been bitten by the vampire and learns her conversion to the life of a vampire comes with some side effects no one ever dreamed of happening. Or thought possible.
