She was more embarrassed and humiliated than Karter had ever felt in her life but not indignant because she knew the woman was justified in putting her through this. She just prayed Verity would find out. But instead of a lecture the professor smiled and told Karter there was going to be an understanding between them. Little knowing at the time that understanding would change her world.
