Most of her life, Breigh had suffered the heart break of being shuttled between her extended family throughout the galaxy. Once a family had enough of the mixed breed mage and her magic, she would be shipped cryogenically to another branch of her family. The mage would travel for more than fifty years before arriving at the welcoming family. Breigh hated being bounced around like a hot potato because she was never able to build lasting relationships or a feeling of belonging.
As Magister Breigh walks through the transport station, she thinks about the effects of the travel and all the lost friendships and lovers. The worst part of these journeys were the dreams, long endless dreams that plagued her even after she awoke. Once Breigh has boarded and securely placed in the cryo-bed she is fast asleep speeding off to a remote part of the galaxy to a waiting family.
It was during one of Breigh’s disturbing dreams that she was wakened. Scrutinizing the cryogenic metrics, she learns her trip had gone 900 hundred years beyond the estimated 50 years. Using an emergency escape system, she jumps through a time gate and arrives on a post-apocalyptic world without her magical powers and chased an eight-foot-tall robot with giant metal claws.
