Once she turned eighteen, it was like a metamorphosis had transformed Carter, from the cute scholar athlete, into a confident woman, knowing exactly what she wanted. She was able to make friends easily and she found that with her new view of the world, her social calendar seemed to be always full. Armed with her newfound confidence she was able to find likeminded friends just about anywhere she went.

She met girls at the gym, or relaxing in the sauna afterward, even among her teammates. However, her transformation did not go unnoticed, and her swim coach, Quinn, did her best to get Carter’s attention on something more than the breaststroke. But Quinn’s abrasive manner was off putting to the young girl. Carter did her best to stay focused on her swimming despite Quinn’s bullying. The rumor was that Quinn, when given a chance had a Svengali like control over some of the girls on the team. Could Carter resist such mind games?

Carter discovered that she wasn’t the only girl on the swim team being targeted by the  obnoxious coach. One of her friends on the team Logan, suffered Quinn’s verbal abuse and by Quinn’s innuendos that wasn’t all Logan had to put up with. Carter quit the team, knowing full well she was a lock for a scholarship. She just wished that Logan had followed her, but by then the senior year was over and she would not see Quinn or Logan for several years.
